Why rent instead of buying?

  • It saves money if you only trek now and then.
  • You fly with less luggage.
  • Warm layers really matter: from our team's experience, dawn on the summit can be around 0–5°C and nights on the crater rim around 8–10°C.
  • A headlamp is essential for the pre-dawn summit push.
  • Trekking poles help a lot on long descents and the sandy slope to the summit.

If you already own gear you like, bring it. Renting works best to fill the gaps rather than replace everything. Boots are a good example: wear a pair you have already broken in to avoid blisters on long trails.

What your trek already includes

Check your package before renting. Our Mount Rinjani treks already include tents, sleeping bags, mats, pillows, a table and chairs, dining and toilet tents, meals on the mountain, a guide, porters, the national park permit, a medical certificate and transfers. Personal items such as a headlamp, backpack, boots, jacket and long trousers are not included, so trekkers usually rent jackets and gloves, headlamps and trekking poles. International guests can also see our treks for international travellers.

Going on a soft trek with an overnight camp instead? Camping gear is not part of that package, so you can rent a tent and sleeping bags from us.

Confirm items and sizes before you travel

Send us on WhatsApp the items and quantities you need, jacket and glove sizes for each person, the dates you need them (rental is per day), your package if you have one, and where you want to collect them. Damage to or loss of rented gear is charged at the replacement cost we provide, so check everything when you receive it.

Lombok airport transfers to Sembalun and Senaru

We provide a car and driver from Lombok Airport, Lembar Harbour, Bangsal Harbour or your hotel to Sembalun, Senaru and other destinations. Approximate drive times to Sembalun:

  • Lombok Airport: about 3 hours.
  • Mataram or Senggigi: about 3.5 hours.
  • Lembar Harbour: about 4 hours.

Times vary with traffic and weather. Transfers can be one way or return, and include the car, driver and fuel; parking and tolls are extra. If you book a Rinjani trek, transfers are already included. A separate transfer is handy for other plans, such as moving to a hotel after your trek or joining an ATV ride in Sembalun. Details are on the airport and harbour transfers page.
